Welcome to St. John's Episcopal Church
A place where we worship God and find Jesus in each other. Won't you join us?

We are so glad that you are here.  St. John's is a Christian church in the Episcopal tradition.  We seek to worship God in the beauty of holiness, serve our community, and one another.  We are part of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut, the national Episcopal Church in the United States, and the world-wide Anglican Communion

Please explore our website to learn more about our ministries and outreach projects.

. . . And the wider church is part of us!
St. John's, Vernon has merged with two other parishes in the past few years; St, John's, East Hartford (2017), and more recently St. Mary's in Manchester (2023). Below are the histories of all three parishes.

And we look forward to a bright future, filled with hope in the Spirit!

Following the merger with St. John’s in East Hartford in 2017 and St. Mary’s in Manchester in 2023, the parish of St. John’s in Vernon became even more of a regional church. We have been blessed with the gift of members from throughout the area. Many parishioners currently live in Coventry, East Hartford, Ellington, Manchester, South Windsor, Tolland, and Vernon with fewer members from towns even further away.
As can be seen in various places on this website, we are an active, healthy parish filled with the Spirit. Our worship is a blend of traditional Anglo-Catholic liturgy and more contemporary Episcopal liturgy. In addition to our two Sunday services of Holy Eucharist, we frequently offer mid-week services. We are blessed with an active music ministry and faithful laity who take their rightful role in our liturgy and in governing our parish. We take seriously our Savior’s command to care for those around us by regularly sending time, talent, and treasure to ministries in our region, in our nation, and in our world who care for those in need. Our members frequently spend time working at various local non-profit organizations, including by serving at the local community kitchen every Sunday morning. We have also contributed about $35,000 to various organization in the past year as a result of our fund-raising efforts. We have multiple ways to share God’s love for each of us with each other through our book group, knitting club, and other groups.
We are grateful for all God has given us and feel a sincere desire to give back from all God has done for us by discerning how He would have us serve this entire region. We trust that as we move forward into a hope-filled future, the Spirit will guide us into an ever-brighter future in His service.

This is where we live . . .
